Are you:

  • Overwhelmed with the volume of photographers and not unsure which one to go for?
  • Worried that the great photographer you found won’t be available on your wedding day?
  • Wondering what happens if you hire them and they fall sick?

A great wedding requires a lot of planning, and even if everything was perfect: the music, the food, the best man’s speech, the bride’s and groomsmen.

the only things that will outlast your wedding are your memories and photos.

So it’s vital for your photographer to capture the essence of your wedding.

4 Tips to Ensure Your Special Day is Captured Beautifully.

  1. Find a photographer who fits with your chosen style

Do you want your pictures to be contemporary, more traditional, or reportage? For example, Some photographers are more fluid in their style.

They may not want you to pose, they might prefer capturing moments of your wedding as they happen.

This might sound risky but you can see if this style is for you by checking their gallery.

You can see that they know how to capture moments you wouldn’t think would turn out special that ends up amazing for a

while other photographers you meet might be more of the traditional type.

Speak with photographers, discuss your preferences, and hear their professional opinions. Ask to see portfolio pieces. Look at a ton of wedding galleries in these three styles and see what speaks best to you.

2.ASK YOUR MARRIED FRIENDS/FAMILY FOR THEIR SUGGESTIONS

I’m sure you know a couple of people who are married. Ask them about their experiences with their own wedding photographers! You will get a list of great photographers who you know for a fact have delivered already, and you’ll know their rates.

You will also get advice on what to expect, and what to ask a photographer during the interview stage so you can be better informed when picking ‘‘THE ONE’’.

Don’t forget to ask what it was like to work with them. Being good at taking pictures doesn’t mean they’re great to work with, so make sure to get a sense of their people skills

No one wants a grumpy photographer at their wedding. Trust me it’s just awkward trying to pose for an ill-tempered photographer

Don’t worry though. The chances of that happening to you are very slim. Most photographers are made of sugar, spice, and everything nice!

Your friends/family might just save you the stress of looking at endless photographers to hire, and it’s likely you will be recommended someone great.

Quick Tip in case no one in your circle has good suggestions: Do a Google search for “photographers near me”. This will give you a list and you can easily read reviews and make judgments..

  1. SET A BUDGET

This might be a no-brainer, but you get what you pay for. Am I telling you to break bad or max out your credit card? No.

But you might have to do some savings to get the right photographer who takes great photos.

At the end of the day, you have to trust the photographer to do their job and that mostly comes from experience.

Not to say that someone that’s new to the industry will not be able to do the job. ( I will never talk down on someone breaking into the industry)

But sometimes a new photographer shows a lot of promise and can give you a great rate. It might just require more research on your end to find them

So, set your budget and see who falls within your price range. Also, email them even if their price is a bit higher than what you originally planned. there might be room to negotiate.

  1. ASK HOW THEY PLAN FOR BAD WEATHER

This is especially vital if you live in a place with unpredictable weather like England. I have personally seen snow, rain, and sunlight all within an hour when I visited London.

Every good photographer should have a contingency plan for bad weather (usually rain). And they should know how to make the best of your special day even if it rains.

No matter what the forecasts say, nothing delivers consistent plot twists like the weather.
